INDO EUROPEAN COURSE ON REVASCULARIZATION (IECR)

 

Dr. Vivek Gupta is Course Chairman and Organizing Secretary of the prestigious teaching Course for young Interventional Cardiologists of the world

 

6th Indo European Course on Revascularization in Rome, World Trade Centre, Zurich, Switzerland

 

The three days of course will include live and recorded lectures from Key Faculty from Europe and USA. Further, there will be teaching sessions from various eminent Interventional and Clinical Cardiologists from India. There will be scintillating sessions on the Interesting CD presentations from young and experienced Interventionist from across the country with key message

 

The Congress will provide the opportunity for a comprehensive overview of the latest research development in Cardiovascular Medicine, primarily in the area of coronary artery disease, coronary and peripheral interventions, innovative devices etc. Latest issues related to heart failure, cardiac

arrhythmias, molecular biology and cardiac surgery will also be discussed. The main arena will focus on Live transmissions and didactic lectures by key note speakers. The parallel halls will be having the selected CD presentations, abstracts of clinical and interventional relevance and recorded (Live in box sessions). Issues related to Clinical Cardiology will be addressed in the parallel halls.

Various Cardiac societies including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia, French, Italian, German, Egyptian, Russian Societies etc will be involved during the formation of the scientific programme - the sessions devoted to the them and run solely by their members. American College of Cardiology and TCT will once again have the representation with their sessions and speakers. EAPCI (European Asocial of Percutaneous Coronary Interventions) will be represented by Prof Carlo di Mario who as the Course Director of IER will also have EAPCI session.

As of now, over 400 participants have confirmed their participation in this Congress. Selected Scientific papers will be presented during the symposia either and oral or posters.

 

5th Indo European Course on Revascularization in Amsterdam, Nov 29th 2011.

It was organized successfully in the University hospital of Tor Vergata in Rome. One day long course was attended by about 100 European Cardiologist with participation from Japan with Japanese Heart Session and Lithunia with Lithunian Heart Session. There were extensive discussion with exchange of knowledge by various Italian and Indian Leaders in field of Medicine.

 

4th Indo European Course on Revascularization in Amsterdam, August

24-26, 2010, The 4th IECR was organized successfully in the University hospital of Amsterdam – Academic Medical Centre on August 24-26, 2010. This course was accredited by European Board of Cardiology with 18 CME points and with Nederland Heart Association with 8 External CME points. There were 600 Physicians participation in all, 82 Dedicated Lectures, 48 International Speakers and record 13 Live transmissions, There was a collaboration from American College of Cardiology and a session from TCT, USA. The Indian chapter will follow on Dec 18-19, 2010 in Delhi. 3rd IECR in Paris, Nov 3-4, 2009, The 3rd IECR was ssucessfully organized in Paris on Nov 3-4, 2009 in the famaous George Pompidou hospital with 25 International Speakers and 5 Live transmissions, The Indian chapter followed on Dec 19-20, 2009 in Delhi. In all about 500 Cardiologists from India and abroad are going to be benefited by the teaching Course where Dr Gupta is Course Chairman.

 

2nd IECR in London and Delhi (Nov - Dec 2008)

2nd Indo European Course on Revascularization was successfully organizedin London on Nov 27-28, 2008 and this was followed by the Beating the Retreat meeting in New Delhi on Dec 20- 21, 2008. This Course is on the lines of previous meeting and will be attended by key physicians

of Indian and abroad. There will be live transmission from London Guys Hospital and also from 3 more Centres of Europe and India. This is once again a joint collaboration of European Commission and several European Embassies in India.

 

Ist IECR (Jan 2008)

Dr. Vivek Gupta conducted an eductative / teaching congress in Jan 2008 where about 700 cardiologist from India and various countries of Asia participated. 1st Indo-European Course on Revascularization (Cardiology Conference) was organized on 4th – 5th Jan. 2008 at Vigyan

Bhawan and on 6th Jan .at Hotel Intercontinental Eros Nehru Place, New Delhi. This course is the collaboration of M.I. International Heart Foundation, Charles Nicolle Hospital, France, Erasmus Medical Centre, Rotterdam, Netherlands, Thrombosis Research Institute, London, Apollo Group of Hospitals, Embassies of France, Italy & Netherlands in India, Delegation of European Commission, New Delhi, Cardiological Society of India (Delhi Branch) and Government of NCT of Delhi.

About 12 Cardiologists from Europe / USA participated in this meeting. They give lectures and interacted in length with Cardiology Faculty from Indian side. Noted Cardiologist who participated in this teaching Course are Prof Alain Cribier (France), Dr Helene Eltchaninoff (France), Dr. Tirouvanziam France, Dr U. Sigwart Switzerland, Dr. Fayaz Shawl USA, Dr Bernard Chevalier, France, Dr. Martine Gillard France, Dr.

Hari Sharma Nederland, Dr. Akshay Mishra, Australia, Dr. Vijay Kakkar, UK etc.

 

The course was inaugurated by Honorable Chief Minister, Mrs Sheila Dixit, with Dr. Abhishek Singhvi (MP and Spokesperson, Indian National Congress) and Dr Yoganand Shastri (Minister of Health an Family Welfare, Govt of NCT, Delhi), Ambassador of Nederland Embassy (Mr Bob Heinz) and Scientific Counselor of French Embassy, Mr Bernard Huelin as the Guest of Honours. Chief Minister applauded the efforts of Dr. Vivek Gupta and Prof Alain Cribier in bringing the Indian and European Cardiologist together.

 

Dr Abhishek Singhvi spoke in length about the Pan European approach while Mr. Bob Hiensch spoke about the need of involvement of European Community in India. Mr. Bernard Huelin from French embassy promised further cooperation from French embassy. Mrs Anita Singhvi, eminent Ghazal singer gave the scintillating performance during the cultural evening after the inauguration.

 

This congress is the joint collaboration of Dr. Vivek Gupta (Senior Interventional Cardiologist of Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, who is the Course Director from Indian side and Prof Alain Cribier of Hospital Charles Nicolle, Rouen, France who is Course Director from European side. This Course is the brain child of these two Cardiologist who have nurtured the idea of teaching course for young Interventional and Clinical Cardiologist.

 

Government of India (National Informatics Center) has also lent support to this meeting by webcasting the congress live on web site. Any body and everybody from any corner of the world can see the congress LIVE on web site http://webcast.gov.in Perhaps this is the first time in India a medical congress was available live on website. Any person (medical or non medical ) could view it within the comforts of their homes. This congress will remain active on website for next 3 months. During the Course there were live angioplasty case transmission from Italy (Grosseto, Dr.Bernardo Cortese), Dubai - Dr. Fayaz Shawl (USA) who performed live cases and live lecture from Shawl Cardiovascular Institute, Zulekha Hospital, Dubai, London – Dr. Carlos di Mario - Royal Brompton Hospital, London and Karachi - National Medical Centre, Karachi. It is to be noted that Dr Fayaz Shawl is one of the renowned Cardiologist from Washington Adventist hospital in USA. The support of Dr. Gregg Stone (Course Director of another important meeting in USA – TCT) to this Indo European is a feather in

 

its cap. From India there were live transmission from Bombay (Jaslok Hospital), Trivendrum (PRS Hospital), Cochin (Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences), Calcutta (RG Kar Medical College), Ahmedabad (Apollo Hospital), Hyderabad (Nizams Institute), Hyderabad (Apollo Hospitals), Delhi (Apollo Hospitals) with great interactive eractive sessions. It was enjoyed very well by the participants with regular interaction.
